In addition to the Independent Medical Evaluations, CVE also offers Fitness to Work Evaluations.

The purpose of this evaluation is to establish a specialized opinion to assist employers with work accommodation. During this evaluation, the physical and psychological limitations and/or medical restrictions are assessed in order to determine the accommodation measures to be put in place.

This is to ensure a presence at work that will be healthy and safe, as well as ensuring a regular presence.

Medical records and history of the client can and should be reviewed by the assessor, however, no diagnosis or personal medical information will be included in the report submitted to the employer/requester.

With the client’s consent, the full report version will be shared with their treating family physician only.

Specialty disciplines are the same as with IMEs with bilingual options available for select disciplines.

CVE’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS Project) is designed to help youth with disabilities (ages 15 to 30) who are no longer in school or are new graduates, looking to navigate the labour market and to successfully transition into meaningful, gainful, and sustained employment.

This is attained by supporting the needs of all youth in the above-mentioned population segments, as it relates to developing knowledge and networks through education, skills development, and meaningful work experiences.

CVE Inc. provides access to Accredited Skills Training, Employment Services/Employment Skills Training and Quality Employment Opportunity interventions to assist the youth of our communities, giving them the opportunity be successful in a competitive marketplace.

WHO CAN APPLY?

YESS Project is a FREE program is available to Ottawa youth who identify as having a disability, ready to build a path to sustainable employment and meet the following eligibility criteria:

a) Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive)

b) A Canadian citizen, or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;

c) Legally entitled to work in Canada; and

d) Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Access to Technology

Participants must have access to a computer, smartphone, or
tablet Internet connection or be available to attend sessions at CVE

Time Commitment

The program requires a 3-week commitment for virtual, paid Employment Skills Training (EST), followed by a 10-week Quality Employment Opportunity, with an average of 30 hours per week

Motivation and Engagement

A willingness to learn and develop job search skills, and be motivated throughout the program
