CVE's YESS PROJECT   

CVE’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS Project) is designed to help youth with disabilities (ages 15 to 30) who are no longer in school or are new graduates, looking to navigate the labour market and to successfully transition into meaningful, gainful, and sustained employment.

This is attained by supporting the needs of all youth in the above-mentioned population segments, as it relates to developing knowledge and networks through education, skills development, and meaningful work experiences.

CVE Inc. provides access to Accredited Skills Training, Employment Services/Employment Skills Training and Quality Employment Opportunity interventions to assist the youth of our communities, giving them the opportunity be successful in a competitive marketplace.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Employment Skills Training

A 3-week virtual or in-person, paid program to enhance your job search skills, perfect your resume prepare for interviews, and stay motivated

Accredited Skills Training

Opportunity to qualify for Accredited Skills Training support. Including funds for tuition toward various college and professional
credentials to enhance your qualifications.

Quality Employment Opportunity

After completing EST, we’ll help you secure a Quality Employment Opportunity (QEO) to gain hands-on work experience and kickstart
your career

Access to Wrap-Around Services

Access to travel assistance, dependent care, emergency funding, job coaching, and wellness support to ensure you have everything you need for success.

WHO CAN APPLY?

This FREE program is available to Ottawa youth who identify as having a disability, ready to build a path to sustainable employment and meet the following eligibility criteria:

a) Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive)

b) A Canadian citizen, or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;

c) Legally entitled to work in Canada; and

d) Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations

 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Access to Technology

Participants must have access to a computer, smartphone, or
tablet Internet connection or be available to attend sessions at CVE

Time Commitment

 The program requires a 3-week commitment for virtual, paid Employment Skills Training (EST), followed by a 10-week Quality Employment Opportunity, with an average of 30 hours per week

CVE’s Employment Support Services are designed to support your individual needs to help you secure the best job possible, as quickly as possible. Whether you are looking for work for the first time or going back to work, our team of expert Employment Integration Specialists (EIS) are here to guide you every step of the way from career exploration and resume writing to job placement and assisting you to keep your job. 

Starting a new job can be a stressful and intimidating process. Our job coaching services help support job seekers in their first few weeks on the job. Our EIS can attend work with the individual, help get them comfortable with their new work environment, help train and develop skills on the job, and ensure all accommodations are met. Whether it be meeting for coffee on break or attending the workday, our employment professionals are here to ensure that work is an enjoyable and empowering experience. Upon employment, we offer ongoing communication with employers to proactively identify and address concerns/barriers/risks if required.

To qualify for employment support, you must:

·        Be at least 16 years old

·        Be an Ontario resident

·        Be legally allowed to work in Canada

·        Have a substantial physical or mental disability that is expected to last a year or more, and makes it hard for you to find or keep a job
