Step into an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience designed to help job seekers develop the confidence and communication skills needed to succeed in today’s workplace.

In partnership with the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW), CVE Inc. is bringing this innovative experience to our community, giving participants the opportunity to practice real workplace scenarios in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. CCRW’s VR program focuses on building communication skills, increasing confidence, and preparing individuals for meaningful employment through immersive learning experiences.

What to Expect

During this event, you’ll have the opportunity to:

Virtual Reality Experience

VR headset demonstrations and debriefs facilitated by CCRW

The VR activities are designed to help participants become more comfortable with situations they may encounter throughout their employment journey while receiving immediate feedback in a safe learning space.

  • Advance registration required
  • Participants must select a time window
  • Each session includes a 5-minute VR scenario and a brief 10-minute debrief

Employment Support Hub

Resume review and job-search support from CVE staff

  • Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of their resume for feedback
  • Downloadable resume, cover letter, and job-search templates will be available

Program information and intake support

  • CVE Inc. and CCRW program information
    • Eligibility and intake questions
  • Opportunity to schedule intake appointments on site

Why Virtual Reality?

Virtual Reality creates a realistic yet safe environment where participants can build confidence before facing real-world workplace situations.

Research from CCRW has shown that participants experience an average increase in confidence after completing VR training sessions, making this an effective tool for developing workplace communication and self-advocacy skills.

Scenarios You May Experience

Participants may have the opportunity to practice scenarios such as:

  • Disclosing a disability to an employer
  • Accommodation check-in meeting with an employer
  • Dealing with a nosy co-worker

Scenarios are designed to reflect real employment situations and help participants feel more prepared for success.

About CVE Inc.

CVE Inc. is an Ottawa-based vocational rehabilitation, disability management, and employment services provider supporting job seekers, employers, insurers, workers’ compensation boards, and government partners across Ontario and Western Quebec. Established in 1993, CVE provides services focused on employment participation, return to work, and vocational planning.

 

Through its Ottawa location, CVE offers employment services and coaching to help job seekers explore options, prepare for employment, and move toward sustainable work. Supports may include skills and interests assessment, resume development, interview preparation, job-search strategies, labour market information, and referrals to employment or community resources.

About CCRW

The Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW) is a national charitable organization dedicated to promoting meaningful and equitable employment for people with disabilities. CCRW provides employment services, career development supports, and employer resources to help create more inclusive workplaces across Canada.

The Ottawa office, located at CCRW (Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work) in downtown Ottawa, provides free employment services for working-age people with disabilities. Supports include career exploration, employment coaching, resume and interview preparation, job-search assistance, workplace accommodation guidance, employer connections, and ongoing employment support. Services are available both virtually and in person, with no referral required for most programs.
