ODSP Services

We provide our clients with the knowledge, tools, support, and employment opportunities to integrate into the work force and find gainful paid employment. We will assist in matching you to the right job and employer. We will help you to develop or enhance your resume, fine tune your interview skills, provide tips on effective job search, and show you ways to express your strengths and abilities with confidence. We will also provide support during job search and assist in reaching employers in the hidden job market, teach job retention skills and provide on-the-job coaching when necessary.

Pre-Employment Training

Our Employment Integration Specialists will help individuals identify their skills and abilities, and use the National Occupation Classification (NOC) to identify suitable and desired occupations. We also create an employment plan to identify short and long-term goals of the job seeker. We provide assistance to in the job seeker in the  development of competencies and professionalism required to confidently enter the workforce.

We also provide interview preparation and creative ways to frame responses to interview questions, including how to handle discussions around disclosing the individual’s disability.

Eligibility

To qualify for employment supports, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Be an Ontario resident
  • Be legally allowed to work in Canada
  • Have a substantial physical or mental disability that is expected to last a year or more, and makes it hard for you to find or keep a job

Job Search and Resume Preparation

Job search training provides the individual with education on a variety of necessary skills to successfully land a new job. This includes resume and cover letter preparation, interview skills, networking, and access points to the job market. Directed by an experienced EIS, job search training provides an individual with the skills to be an active and confident participant in their job search.

Our job search and resume preparation supports include:

  • One to one job development, career planning and the identification of skills and abilities
  • Professional resume and cover letter writing
  • Job search assistance, including applying to the advertised job market and connecting with employers in the hidden job market
  • Supported job search with clients in the community

Job Coaching

Starting a new job can be a stressful and intimidating process. Our job coaching services help support job seekers in their first few weeks on the job. Our EIS can attend work with the individual, help get them comfortable with their new work environment, help train and develop skills on the job, and ensure all accommodations are met. Whether it be meeting for coffee on break or attending the workday, our employment professionals are here to ensure that work is an enjoyable and empowering experience. Upon employment, we offer ongoing communication with employers to proactively identify and address concerns/barriers/risks if required.

For Employers

Our goal at CVE Inc. is to create a mutually beneficial relationship where both clients and employers benefit from our Employment Services. Through a comprehensive analysis of your business our employment experts are able to identify possible areas that would be aided by our clients’ specific skill sets. Our Employment Support Specialists can also help support clients transition into your workplace by offering job coaching and on the job training. Our partnerships throughout the city can offer wage subsidy programs to help employers alleviate initial training costs and ensure that our clients are able to effectively perform all aspects of the job.
