Denise knew she wanted to have a career in a health-related profession because she was extremely interested in medicine and desired working in a profession that would enable her to work closely with individuals on a daily basis.
Having grown up with a parent who struggled with both physical and mental health limitations, Denise developed empathy, compassion, and problem-solving skills from a very young age. “Helping others become the best version of themselves while aspiring to become independent is exactly what occupational therapists do and is essentially why I fell in love with the profession”.
Denise graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa. She pursued her master’s degree in occupational therapy, also from the University of Ottawa, because it allowed her to complete her studies in French, which is of great importance to her. “Serving clients in both official languages is not only an asset, but also a privilege because you are then able to reach and assist more people who really need the help”.
Denise is a registered member with both the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and “l’Ordre des ergothérapeutes du Québec” (OEQ). She has over 10 years of experience working with a diverse clientele including acquired brain injury, motor-vehicle accidents, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injuries, military & veterans, mental illness, and post-stroke clients.
Although she is a new employee with CVE Inc., Denise enjoys sharing her knowledge of occupational therapy with her colleagues and appreciates working with such a supportive and dedicated group of individuals, including vocational rehabilitation counselors, employment counselors, employment integration specialists, kinesiologists, and more.
