En milieu hospitalier, dans une clinique ou en soins supplétifs, nos ergothérapeutes se liguent à d’autres professionnels des soins de santé pour vous assurer le rétablissement et la reprise de votre quotidien. Nos ergothérapeutes joueront pleinement leur rôle dans votre préparation au congé d’hospitalisation et votre passage à un établissement de soins transitoires ou à votre retour chez vous, surtout si vous vous retrouvez incapable de prendre soin de vous et d’assumer les tâches de la vie quotidienne. Par leur collaboration avec vous, votre assureur et les personnes travaillant à votre rétablissement, nos ergothérapeutes vous faciliteront la tâche en faisant une évaluation ergonomique de votre milieu de vie (formulaire 1). Ils recommanderont une disposition optimale des effets essentiels à votre récupération et à votre sécurité, et, lorsque nécessaire, ils recommanderont aussi les équipements adaptés, les aménagements pertinents à l’environnement et prescriront des accessoires de mobilité au besoin.

La formation à la recherche d’emploi pourvoit le participant d’une batterie des compétences nécessaires à l’obtention d’un nouvel emploi. Cette formation englobe la rédaction d’un curriculum vitæ et d’une lettre de présentation; une préparation à l’entrevue; le réseautage et des pistes d’accès au marché de l’emploi. Dispensée par un orienteur professionnel chevronné ou un spécialiste de l’emploi, cette formation inculque au participant les aptitudes le rendant proactif dans sa recherche.

Ergothérapie – Intervention précoce

Un ergothérapeute pratique des évaluations ciblées dans le cadre de programmes de prévention de rechute, et pour soutenir un travailleur dans sa réintégration d’un emploi rémunérateur, dans du bénévolat ou des études.

Formation à la recherche intensive d’emploi

Tout indiquée pour les individus en état de réintégrer le marché de l’emploi, cette formation couvre en quatre (4) semaines tous les aspects de la recherche d’un emploi, et englobe ce qui suit :

·         de l’aide à composer avec un nouvel employeur

·         l’établissement d’objectifs, la prospection du marché, les qualités méconnues, la bonification de la confiance en soi

·         un curriculum vitæ, une lettre de présentation, une préparation aux entrevues, des appels à froid, l’art de la sollicitation téléphonique

·         des séances d’information et de sensibilisation aux ressources disponibles (p. ex., l’Internet, les journaux, les banques d’emploi, le réseautage, etc.)

Pool Program

CVE provides custom Aquafit exercise programs at the client’s preferred gym location or home pool either in Ottawa or Outaouais regions. Trainer is a certified Kinesiologist who specializes in Aquafitness for the recovery of physical injuries or mental illness. Sessions are customizes to meet the recovery needs of the individual. They are provided on a one-to-one basis.

The benefits of Aquatherapy includes pain management through decreasing the impact forces that your body is subjected to in traditional land therapy sessions thus allowing you to move with greater ease and less pain.  Water has a soothing, calming, and relaxing effect on people. The introduction to pool exercises with a trainer helps to promote a regular physical activity and fitness routine which has its benefits on mental health

Dragon Naturally Speaking Training

Clinically based training customized to an injured worker’s needs administered by a trained Dragon Naturally Speaking expert and vocational rehabilitation specialist. Best suited for workers with physical disabilities or individuals wanting to increase productivity in the workplace. 

Training is 20 hours and includes ergonomic setup at workplace of device and free follow technical support for the initial first month. This trainer teaches the user how to operate Dragon dictation software for everything from dictating text to controlling a PC. Ms. Amra Hasanic explains how to set up Dragon, train it to recognize your voice, and use it for dictating text. The course also highlights capabilities such as correcting errors and leveraging common dictation shortcuts, and techniques to improve Dragon's accuracy to best serve its purpose in a competitive workplace setting.

The user also learn how to control the Windows desktop, open and close apps, and work with popular software like Word, Outlook, Excel, and web browsers.

Personal Training

CVE Personal Training services are completed by a licenced occupational therapist or kinesiologist using the standards from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology and their respected colleges.  Exercise programs are customized can help you improve your cardiovascular fitness, muscular conditioning, endurance, and flexibility.  Programs are also devoted to promote overall healing and wellness. Session can be completed at your home or our clinic. Sessions are one hour in length unless otherwise specified.

Progressive Goal Attainment (PGAP)

PGAP is a standardized ten (10)-week intervention program whose goal is to maximize the rate of progress in rehabilitation and reduce the probability of the development of chronicity. PGAP is a suitable intervention for individuals with pain-related limitations who are in need of an active mobilization intervention and for whom psycho-social issues such as fear of re-injury or pessimistic outlook are considered to be important contributors to disability. PGAP focuses on disability reduction as opposed to pain reduction. It is an Evidence-Based Treatment Program for Reducing Disability Associated with Pain, Depression, Cancer and other Chronic Health Conditions.

The Process of Treatment In the initial weeks of the Program, the focus is on developing a structured activity schedule to assist the client in resuming activities that have been adversely impacted by injury or illness. Activity goals are established in order to promote resumption of family, social and occupational roles. In the final stages of the Program, the intervention focuses on activities that will facilitate re-integration into the workplace.

Individualized Occupational Therapy Sessions

Occupational therapists use a systematic approach based on evidence and professional reasoning to enable individuals, groups and communities to develop the means and opportunities to identify, engage in and improve their function in the occupations of life. The process involves assessment, intervention and evaluation of the client related to occupational performance in self-care, work, study, volunteerism and leisure.

Occupational therapy services typically include

POET is used to evaluate whether an employee is able to meet the essential physical demands of a particular occupation after or before the hiring process. Assessment involves a customized functional capacity evaluation completed by a registered Kinesiologist or Occupational Therapist using standardized assessment tools.

The program is developed to identify basic competitive employment skills within individuals who have little to no literacy resulting in identification of employment options

Process- 1 day assessment

Transferable Skills Analysis- Intensive interview to garner information on the individual’s life experiences

Interests- identifying an individuals work preference through either picture interest inventories or structure discussion

Academic Achievement- testing of ability in basic literacy involving numbers and words with standardized and non standardize tests

New learning-  Exploring the best modality for new learning

Individual Worker Trait Profile- Upon completion ofthis assessment types of employment will be identified that the individual has the skills and ability to perform and suggested methods of skill acquisitionwill be suggested

Workplace Accommodate Assessment

An occupational therapist completes a job site visit to identify the physical, cognitive and/or psychological barriers to a worker returning to or reaching peak performance at work. Areas assessed also include the physical, institutional and social environment.

While conducting the assessment, we collaborate with all stakeholders including human resource departments, managers, unions and workers to negotiate appropriate workplace accommodations for a variety of medical conditions.   Following this, CVE provides specific and clear recommendations in a written report to promote a seamless implementation of workplace accommodations.  Best suited for clients with chronic pain, orthopaedic injuries, brain injuries and visual and hearing impairments.  Can be completed in conjunction with psychologist for complex mental illnesses. 

A Functional Work Capacity Assessment

A Functional Work Capacity Assessment is amobile capacity solution allowing assessments to be completed at the work site, school or in a client's home. A multi-day FCE may be completed to best determine safe work abilities where fatigue and activity tolerance are the primary limiting factors to a safe and productive return to work or function.  This assessment is used to determine a multitude of activity or workplace barriers. It in include an assessment of physical, cognitive, behavioural and psychosocial abilities and match them to the demands of the work or the activity. The assessment may also assist in confirming the suitability of work offered with the injury employer; identify modifications/accommodations; and potentially identify if additional workplace training is required.

Cognitive FAE

A Cognitive Functional Capacity Evaluation assesses the functional impairment of a client’s memory, attention, planning, problem solving, learning, impulsivity and tolerance for multiple demands. The evaluation includes standardized assessment of cognitive functioning. Both Functional and Cognitive Capacity evaluations will outline the impact of changes in cognitive and physical function and recommend customized strategies to minimize the impairments designed either for home, school or the workplace. It can be designed to measure an individual’s ability to perform the physical or cognitive demands of a particular job using a job description or demands analysis report.  Both assessments are administered with care for the client’s safety and well-being.

Neuropsychological Assessment

A Neuropsychological Assessment is performed by a specially trained psychologist and uses a performance-based standardized methodology to assess cognitive functioning. A Neuropsychological Assessment’s primary function is to examine and diagnose any of the cognitive deficiencies resulting from suspected closed head injury, brain disease, and severe mental illness.
